Mechanical Engineering Department
The Mechanical Engineering Department is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and technical skills in mechanical systems, thermodynamics, manufacturing, machine operations, and industrial technology. The department prepares learners to understand how machines work, how mechanical systems are designed, and how engineering principles are applied in real-world industries.
Students are trained in key areas such as machine operation, mechanical maintenance, workshop practice, manufacturing processes, welding, fitting, machining, technical drawing, thermodynamics, and basic engineering design. Through practical lessons, learners develop the ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment safely and professionally.
The department is equipped with modern machinery through the Oil and Gas Capacity Building Project, giving students the opportunity to train with industry-relevant tools and equipment. This hands-on approach helps learners gain confidence and experience in working with machines and mechanical systems used in industrial environments.
Strong attention is given to safety, accuracy, problem-solving, teamwork, and professional workmanship. Students are encouraged to think critically, follow proper engineering procedures, and develop the discipline needed for technical careers.
The Mechanical Engineering Department is suitable for students who want to build careers as mechanical technicians, machine operators, maintenance technicians, manufacturing workers, workshop assistants, or future engineers. It also provides a strong foundation for further studies in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, oil and gas technology, and other related technical fields.
Through quality training, modern equipment, and practical workshop experience, the department prepares students to meet the demands of industry and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s technical and engineering workforce.
