About the Building Construction Department

The Building Construction Department at Kikam Technical Institute trains students in the practical and technical skills needed in the construction industry. The program focuses on building methods, materials, site work, safety, and workmanship, preparing students for employment, further education, or self-employment in construction-related fields.

Students learn how buildings are planned, measured, set out, constructed, and finished. Through classroom lessons and hands-on practical training, they develop the confidence and discipline needed to work on real construction projects.

What Students Learn

Practical Training

The department places strong emphasis on practical workshop and site-based training. Students take part in exercises such as laying blocks, preparing mortar and concrete, setting out building lines, reading simple plans, and carrying out basic finishing works.

These practical lessons help students build accuracy, strength, teamwork, and good work habits that are important in the construction industry.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Building Construction program can work with construction companies, building contractors, real estate developers, masonry workshops, and public or private infrastructure projects. They may also become self-employed artisans or continue their studies in construction technology, civil engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, or related fields.
